The Railwest Railroad Museum, located in Council Bluffs of Iowa, was built in 1899 for the transcontinental Rock Island Railroad and was operational until 1980. In 1984, GOSOME, the Greater Omaha Society of Model Railroad Engineers, and the City of Council Bluffs preserved the Depot and eventually renovated it into a museum. The structure was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1995.
