The Everest Methodist Church in the Old Prairie Town at Ward-Meade Historic Site was first built two miles away from Everest, Kansas in 1880. To better serve the growing congregation in the city, the structure was moved by wagons to Everest in 1884, serving the community as the United Methodist Church of Everest. The church was closed in 2001 and was moved to Ward-Meade Historic Site in Topeka, Kansas. The renovation process was concluded in 2004 as Old Prairie Town’s newest addition to showcase a structure that was commonly used as the house of worship in the 19th century.
