The keelboat of Lewis and Clark Expedition, built in Pittsburgh, was designed by Army Caption Meriwether Lewis. The boat, loaded with scientific specimens, was sent back to St. Louis after the expedition team spending the winter in the Mandan and Hidatsa Indian Villages. The life-sized replica, originally a movie prop built for the IMAX movie “The Great Journey West,” is now a part of central education exhibits in Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
