The Insect Zoo at the Kansas State University was opened in 1999 in the old Dairy Barn on the campus. For $3, one gets to “pet” millipedes and walking sticks. So, I was understandably excited. I jotted down zoo’s address, googled the direction, and marked the map with my big red color pencil. But when I finally got there, the zoo was closed to allow “staff to cheer on KSU in the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament, go Cats!!” Oops.
